Apria Healthcare Joins the Military Spouse Employment Partnership

Apria Healthcare, one of the nation’s largest home healthcare companies, proudly joined the Department of Defense (DOD) Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) program on October 17, 2016 at the United States Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC. The MSEP is an employment and career partnership that connects military spouses with more than 335 partner employers, who have committed to hire, promote and retain military spouses in portable careers.

Bill Guidetti, Apria’s Executive Vice President, East Zone, accepted the induction on behalf of the company. “It was an immense honor to participate on behalf of Apria at the MSEP’s 5th Annual New Partner Induction Ceremony yesterday,” noted Bill. “Our mission is to improve the quality of life for our patients, and this value absolutely extends to those who bravely serve our country, and the families who support them. We actively extend our recruiting efforts to veteran spouses because we recognize their strong sense of character, loyalty, commitment and perseverance. These qualities resonate strongly with Apria, and we are excited to join this humbling community.”

The MSEP program was launched in 2011 by Dr. Jill Biden, the wife of Vice President and veteran Joe Biden, as part of the DOD Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, which seeks to reduce the 23 percent unemployment rate experienced by military spouses, and close the 25 percent wage gap experienced by military wives. To date, the MSEP has hired 98,000 spouses and has helped create five million jobs across the country.

By becoming partners of the MSEP, Apria has pledged its role in a larger collective effort to support military spouse employment and connect them with the careers they deserve. “We couldn’t be prouder of this company and the partners we care for,” added Mr. Guidetti. “Our compassion towards our patients and employees permeates through the entire company, and we are proud to stand together as employer partners with the DOD and the MSEP.”
