Apple, Alphabet are helping to double the corporate cash stash

U.S. non-financial companies’ cash holdings will hit $1.77 trillion by the end of 2016, up 5% from the end of 2015. That projection more than doubles the $742 billion in cash holdings outside of the financial services sector in 2007.
