Harris Corporation EWeek Celebration Honors Spirit of Innovation

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) employees around the world are celebrating National Engineers Week (EWeek) by honoring the company’s spirit of innovation and recognizing its engineers and scientists’ many significant accomplishments during the past year.

Harris employees are taking part in high-tech team building events, contests, demonstrations and seminars designed to foster technical creativity and collaboration. The events include challenges and competitions featuring drone engineering, computer coding, engineering Olympics, balsa bridge building and others. To help inspire a new generation of innovators, the company has invited students involved in regional Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs to participate in select events.

Highlighting the week, Harris is hosting ceremonies recognizing the many significant accomplishments of its more than 7,500 engineers and scientists. The recognition culminates with the naming of the Harris Corporation Fellow, the company’s highest recognition for engineering and technical achievement. The company selected Mark Chamberlain as the 2017 Harris Corporation Fellow — one of only 25 company engineers who have received the distinguished award since it was established in 2000. Chamberlain has been instrumental in developing key technologies that are core to the company’s highly successful Falcon family of tactical radios, which are widely used by warfighters in all military branches.

"EWeek’s ‘Think Big’ theme embodies the spirit that our engineers and scientists bring to work every day. That spirit drives them to deliver the innovative solutions to solve our customers’ most mission critical challenges," said William M. Brown, chairman, president and chief executive officer. "Harris is committed to investing in and sustaining a culture of innovation, while inspiring the next generation of emerging engineers.”

Harris has a 121-year legacy of innovation and annually invests an industry-leading 4 percent of its revenue in research and development. Harris and its employees each year contribute millions of dollars and volunteer thousands of hours in STEM-related outreach.
