Sterling Bancorp (NYSE: STL) will acquire Astoria Financial Corp. (NYSE: AF) in an all stock transaction valued at approximately $2.2 billion. Shares of Sterling Bancorp dropped $1.20 to close at $23.85 while Astoria Financial stock soared $2.17 to close at $20.65.
