Spicer says Carrier layoffs don’t represent backtracking on commitment to save Indiana jobs

White House spokesman Sean Spicer pushed back Friday in his press briefing about reports that Carrier Corp., the United Technologies unit that as president-elect Donald Trump had lionized for keeping a number of jobs in Indiana rather than shipping them to Mexico, in exchange for state assistance, was now cutting more jobs.
