NIC Vice President of Digital Government Advocacy Honored by the National Association of Secretaries of State

Ron Thornburgh, the Vice President of Digital Government Advocacy for NIC Inc. (NASDAQ: EGOV), was honored with a National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) Medallion Award for longtime corporate support of NASS and exceptional service to Secretary of State offices. The Medallion Award honors individuals, groups, and organizations with a record of promoting the goals of NASS in elections, civic education, or service to state government. Award recipients were nominated by the Executive Committee and voted on by the membership.

“Ron was an exceptional Secretary of State for 15 years,” said Harry Herington, NIC Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. “He has made an impressive impact through his continued service to government, and we are happy to have him as a member of the NIC family.”

Ron has been involved with NASS for more than 20 years, first starting as a Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Kansas. He then served four consecutive terms as Kansas Secretary of State where he served on the Executive Committee for NASS before being named President of the Association in 2001. While President, he negotiated with Congress to help draft the Help America Vote Act, signed by President Bush to revolutionize technological advances in every voting precinct in America following the closely contested Presidential election in 2000.
