Walmart partners with Google

The markets traded lower during the midday with the Dow tumbling 63 points to 21,836. Nasdaq lost 14 points to 6,283.


Walmart has partnered with Google to offer shoppers the option of ordering items through Google Home. The voice activated system can be linked to a customer's Walmart account so that items can be easily reordered. Delivery through Google Express will be free for purchases that meet a minimum dollar amount.


The U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau found that American Express discriminated against more than 200,000 customers. American Express charged customers higher interest rates in Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories than customers in the states and also enacted stricter credit cutoff policies. The financial services company has voluntarily agreed to pay $96 million to affected customers.


Samsung introduced its Galaxy Note 8. The flagship smartphone has a 6.3 inch Super AMOLED Quad HD edge-to-edge display and dual optical image stabilized 12-megapixel rear cameras. Preorders begin tomorrow with a delivery date of September 15.


In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of nearly 4 to 3 on the NYSE while decliners edged out advancers by nearly 9 to 8 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 lost 5 points to 2,446. Bitcoin climbed $81 to $4,164.
