NIC State Government Partners Win Four of Top Five Inaugural Government Experience Awards

NIC Inc. (NASDAQ: EGOV), the dominant provider of digital government services, congratulates seven of its state government partners for being recognized in the inaugural Government Experience Awards, with four placing in the top five in the Overall State Government Experience category. The rankings were announced by the Center for Digital Government. The new Government Experience Awards replace the Center for Digital Government’s former Best of the Web and Digital Government Achievement Awards, and were created to provide a greater focus on citizens’ and businesses’ overall online experience with government beyond a government website.

Utah took top honors, winning first place in the Overall State Government Experience category. In addition, Utah took home three more awards, including: Government Experience Innovation for the Utah Predictive Government through Google Now and Amazon Alexa, State Government-to-Citizen Experience for Utah Hunting and Fishing Services, and Government-to-Government Experience for its Utah Public Meeting Notice.

Also recognized in the Overall State Government Experience category were Indiana in second place, Arkansas in third place, and Mississippi in fifth place. NIC partner state Texas was recognized as a finalist.

NIC state government partners were recognized in several other categories for their work to bring efficiencies to citizens, business, and government. West Virginia’s DMV “Skip the Trip” program was recognized for State Government-to-Citizen Experience, and Wisconsin’s ePDMP services was honored for Government-to-Business Experience.

“Congratulations to all of our state government partners,” said Harry Herington, NIC’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. “We are very proud of our government partners, as well as our NIC teams, for their work to provide constituents innovative, citizen-centric digital government experiences. We look forward to continuing to drive innovation as together with our government partners, we strive to bring citizens and businesses the best online government experiences possible.”

The Center for Digital Government is an international research and advisory institute on the use of information technology in government. The Government Experience Awards will be presented at a celebratory awards event on September 15, 2017.
