Alabama.gov Recognized in International Award Competitions for User Experience

The state of Alabama received international recognition for its website, Alabama.gov, by the W3 and Davey Award Competitions. The website was presented with a silver award in both competitions, highlighting the site’s user-friendly design in the government category. This is the third consecutive year the website has been recognized by both competitions.

Alabama.gov is the official government Web portal for the state of Alabama. This year’s site focused on usability and concise designs for optimal use. Some of the user-friendly enhancements to its functionality include:

  • Re-organized content grouping and search feature
  • Sleek and navigable design
  • Enhanced menu options
  • Updated social media portal

An international panel of judges, consisting of industry professionals with diverse backgrounds, evaluated categories ranging from online advertising to mobile applications. The 2017 winning entries for both competitions showcase the industry’s best interactive media solutions including websites, mobile applications, print media, interactive displays, public exhibits, online advertising, video, email, and more.

The Alabama.gov website was redesigned at no cost to taxpayers through Alabama Interactive’s partnership with the state. The partnership allows the company to provide digital government applications and services to state agencies, boards, commissions, political subdivisions, local government agencies, and quasi-government agencies within the state of Alabama. Alabama Interactive works with more than 60 state agencies, and manages more than 250 online applications through a self-funded model.

About the W3 Awards

The W3 Awards honors creative excellence on the Web, and recognizes the creative and marketing professionals behind award-winning websites, Web video and online marketing programs. Simply put, the W3 is the first major Web competition to be accessible to the biggest agencies, the smallest firms, and everyone in between. Small firms are as likely to win as Fortune 500 companies and international agencies.

The W3 Awards is sanctioned and judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a “Who's Who” of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms. About the Davey Awards

The Davey Awards exclusively honor the “Davids” of creativity, the finest small agencies, firms and companies worldwide. David defeated the giant Goliath with a big idea and a little rock - the sort of thing small agencies do each year. The annual International Davey Awards honors the achievements of the “Creative Davids,” who derive their strength from big ideas rather than big budgets. The Davey Awards is the leading awards competition specifically for smaller agencies as they compete with their peers to win the recognition they deserve.
