Patients at Boston Children’s Hospital Collaborate with Saucony Sneaker and Apparel Designers

--News Direct--

Boston Children’s Hospital is once again working with global performance running lifestyle brand Saucony and its Run For Good Children's Program to raise funds for Boston Children’s Cardiac Fitness Program, an exercise program for kids with congenital heart conditions. This year Saucony designers worked with a number of children’s hospitals in North America including six Boston Children’s Hospital patients to design and create shoes and apparel that are available for purchase at Saucony’s website starting today. Twenty percent of every sale from the program’s collections will be donated to the Cardiac Fitness Program and three other hospitals, for a minimum donation of $200,000 collectively.

“There is so much confidence and strength to be gained from physical fitness, but due to their condition, many patients suffering from congenital heart conditions miss out,” said Naomi Gauthier, MD, Director of the Cardiac Fitness Program at Boston Children’s Hospital. “The Boston Children’s Cardiac Fitness Program safely supports these patients with training, not only for strengthening their bodies but also their minds to feel confident and capable. Saucony has been a wonderful partner in supporting our vision and helping our patients ‘Find Their Possible.’”

The six patient-artists selected by Boston Children’s Hospital to participate in the Saucony Run for Good Children’s Program are: Chauncy (14); Ela (12); Fiona (13); Ryan (10); Wyatt (13); and Jake (12). Each young patient inspired Saucony designers to create footwear and apparel that expressed their own personal stories. The limited-edition footwear collection will feature a range of performance and lifestyle sneakers, along with apparel including:

SNEAKERS:

  • The Endorphin Speed inspired by Wyatt - $160 USD
  • The Freedom 4 inspired by Chauncy - $150 USD

  • The Jazz Court inspired by Jake - $90 USD

The Saucony Run for Good Children’s Program is committed to supporting organizations that help improve the health and wellness of children to get them back up and running. In addition to Boston, this year’s collections are being created to support communities in Atlanta, Toronto, and New Orleans.

“Not only is Boston Children’s Hospital in our backyard, it is near and dear to many members of the Saucony family on a personal level. We serve Boston Children’s through this program because we know on a deeply personal level how they serve their patients. We are blessed to partner with such an amazing hospital.” – Shawn Hoy, Saucony’s Senior Vice President of Global Product and Innovation.
