Weston, Florida Jun 14, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Dr. Abelardo Daya DMD, MS, has announced his acquisition of Zagarra Orthodontics from Joaquin Zagarra DDS, MDS, and the practice has been re-branded as the South Florida Institute of Orthodontics.

Dr. Abelardo Daya is originally from Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela. He first obtained his dental degree from Universidad Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho (UGMA) in Barcelona, Venezuela. During his extramural rotation at IMASUR in Lecheria, he realized how much of impact orthodontics can have on the patient's self-esteem and confidence and in 2012, he decided to move to the United States to pursue his dream of becoming an Orthodontist.

"I always wanted to be an orthodontist, and with all the opportunities that the United States has to offer, it was an easy decision for me to come here," says Dr. Daya.

In order to obtain his dental degree in the US, Dr. Daya completed the International Dental Graduate (IDG) program at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree, ranking in the top 10% of his class. He continued his Orthodontic Specialty training at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) where he specialized in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and also obtained a master in Science degree.

Dr. Daya is a Board Certified Orthodontist from the prestigious American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) since April 2019, a level of certification only achieved by more than half of the orthodontists.

"I look forward to maintaining the high quality of care that Doctor Zagarra provided to his patients over the years at Zagarra Orthodontics," says Dr. Daya. "His reputation among the community and his peers is impeccable, and I plan to maintain his high standards."

During the transition period, Dr. Zagarra reviewed all the records and treatment plans of every single active case in the office with Dr. Daya. "It was important to a smooth transition," states Dr. Daya, "that we go through each active case to maintain continuity in patient care."

Dr. Daya remains active with his community and has volunteered in multiple events such as Give Kids a Smile (GKAS), Lunch in a Box program, Day for Children health screening, and Oral Cancer awareness events at NSU. "It's important to stay connected to the local community, and to give back as much as possible," states Dr. Daya, "especially during the tough times we have all been going through since the pandemic started."
