Rolls-Royce Secures $98 Million Combustion Engine Contract

GALWAY, IRELAND--June 2, 2009--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)-- Rolls-Royce Group plc (OTC:RYCEY) (London, United Kingdom) recently secured a $98 million contract from RWE AG (OTC:RWEOY) (Essen, Germany), Germany's largest supplier of electric power, for the supply of four Trent 60 wet low emissions (WLE) combustion engines to replace the obsolete units in use at RWE's combined-cycle power plant in Emsland, near Lingen in Lower Saxony, Germany. The upgraded power plant is scheduled to commence operations in 2011. The reconfiguration is expected to increase the efficiency of the power plant by 12% at optimum load and will also reduce consumption of gas and carbon-dioxide emissions by 45,000 tons per year.
