Minnesota Commission delays decision on Integrys acquisition

The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) yesterday listened to arguments regarding Wisconsin Energy’s proposed acquisition of Integrys Energy Group. The five commissioners requested additional information relating to the status of the regulatory proceedings in other state jurisdictions and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), including the issues raised, agreements, testimony, proposed conditions and any decisions. It is expected that the MPUC will revisit the application in early May.

The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin expects to vote on the acquisition no later than April 16. Michigan has set a schedule calling for a decision by June 15, and Illinois Commerce Commission staff has proposed a schedule that calls for a decision on    July 6. The acquisition also must be approved by FERC. The U.S. Department of Justice completed its review on October 24, with no further action required by the company.

More information about the proposed acquisition can be found here and on the transaction website.
