Options trading was brisk on Monsanto (NYSE: MON) on Monday. The security saw more than 71,900 contracts cross the tape yesterday, which is more than four times the equity's average daily trading volume, according to data from WhatsTrading.com. In addition, traders showed a preference for puts, as more than 62% of the volume changed hands on the put side.
In the front three months of options, the November 70 put added more than 6,000 new positions, while the November 75 put increased its open interest by more than 3,000 contracts. The December 70 put added 2,500 new positions. On the other hand, the January 2010 70 put liquidated 3,000 positions.
