December’s The Wire…from AirPlus: Travel Budget Volatility to Continue in 2010

AirPlus International, a global provider of corporate travel payment solutions, releases December’s The Wire…from AirPlus highlighting year-end results for projected 2010 travel budgets. Survey results show that 70% of corporate travel professionals anticipate airline (of the supplier category) to show the most volatility, with hotels in a far distant second place at 23%. And 80% of those citing travel budget cuts in 2009, anticipate flat or more cuts in the future. For more details, including a complimentary PDF of the results, please visit the AirPlus Community.

“The outlook for 2010 seems to be impacted partly by how aggressive a company was in cutting travel spend in 2009,” said Richard Crum, President of AirPlus International, Inc. “Those companies that cut travel spend the most in 2009 are more likely to see increased spending in 2010 than those that made only sight cuts this year. At AirPlus, we can provide a company with the travel payment products and detailed travel data necessary to companies during this recovery process.”

The Wire…from AirPlus is a monthly report on the pulse of the industry and its relevant topics. Results of this edition are based on a survey of 99 travel management professionals in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia/Pacific on November 2-30, 2009.
