AirPlus Survey Discusses Mobile Technology Integration into Corporate Travel Programs

AirPlus International, a global provider of corporate travel payment solutions, releases April’s The Wire…from AirPlus entitled: Leading Edge Travel Programs Take On Mobile. Within the survey, more than 78% felt that half or more of their company’s business travelers carry a smart-phone or wireless-enabled mobile device. However, over 54% acknowledged that travel management has no responsibility for mobile travel tools and apps. “Mobile devices will have a profound and lasting impact on travel and the business of travel procurement and management. What we see today with online social media and some of the first mobile applications will quickly be surpassed by ubiquitous access to contextual information, augmented reality and real-time decision making tools in the hands of travelers,” said Richard Crum, President of AirPlus International, Inc. “At AirPlus we are committed to developing tools to bring the power of information to travel professionals and ultimately to the traveler themselves. We actively participate in the growing social media communities that dominate the discussion today and will lead the way for enabling companies to make smart decisions based on the best data going forward.”

The Wire…from AirPlus is a monthly report on the pulse of the industry and its relevant topics. Results of this edition are based on a survey of 71 travel management professionals in North America and Europe from March 9 to March 19, 2010.
