Nonnie Talks About Mental Health

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Apr 30, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, author Dr. Mary Jo Podgurski launched her latest book in her Nonnie Series, Nonnie Talks About Mental Health. This book is the 12th volume in the series.

Dr. Mary Jo Podgurski, author, and founder of the Academy for Adolescent Health says, "As a youth counselor since the 80s, I know the stigma surrounding mental illness can inhibit young people and parents/trusted adults from seeking treatment. I believe everyone could use a good listening to. Each person is worthy."

Nonnie Talks about Mental Health was an obvious choice for #12 and the last in the series. Mental health, stress, and the challenges our children and young people face permeating all the books in The Nonnie Series.

The Nonnie Series seeks to open the door to parent or adult/child communication by addressing complex issues with grace, humor, sensitivity, and warmth. This book seeks to explore the need for mental health throughout life by encouraging connection for parents/trusted adults, and children/young people.

In prior volumes, Nonnie addressed the 'elephant in the room' topics of Consent, Death, Disability, Gender, Pregnancy and Birth, Puberty, Quarantine, Race, Relationships, Sex, and Trauma.
