With the Tokyo Olympics, a small southern California company has sent athletes to 10 Olympic Games from 17 countries and 13 different sports
El Segundo, California Aug 3, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - When Velocity Sports Performance was founded in 1999 they were training six track & field athletes from five countries who would go on to the 2000 Olympic Games. That tradition of working with elite Olympic athletes continues with the Tokyo 2020 Games. Global High-Performance Director Ken Vick set up shop in Redondo Beach in 2005 and has been helping Olympians ever since.
"For a performance coach, one of the unique aspects of many Olympic sports is that they are measured objectively. You can see if what you are doing with them is working. You can't hide bad training behind a great team or tactics," says Vick
He'd know something about that as he coached multiple athletes going to the Games and directed the high-performance team behind many others. For the Rio 2016 Games, Velocity supported the entire Chinese Olympic Committee. In the last decade under his watch, Velocity has supported 54 medal winners across 13 different sports.
