We are facing a mental health crisis in our communities with our young men struggling with mental health and addiction at unprecedented rates. A 2019 study by the Centers for Disease Control found that nearly 19% of high school students seriously considered and 9% attempted suicide. Young men are 3 times more likely to die by suicide compared with women. While race and income levels can contribute to these risks, all our neighborhoods are affected as many of us have kids of our own who are struggling or know that to be true of our friends or family members. Our goal is to help all young men improve their self-esteem, self-worth, sense of community, resilience and hope for the future by facilitating partnerships with organizations that have demonstrated excellence.
Taylor Gold along with board member Dr. Andreea Seicean, MD, PhD, MPH have launched Bold Transformations, a charitable organization focused on Men’s Mental Health Awareness, Suicide Prevention and Men’s Mental Heath Resources. Bold Transformations is focusing its efforts on removing the stigma for men around seeking help for depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges so many men and boys face on a daily basis. Strong men need bold positive action now.
