Tinder and KickStarter Shine at This Year’s at Seventh Annual Crunchies Awards

Last night, tech’s hottest startups, founders, engineers and venture capitalists vied for recognition as the best of best at the 2013 Crunchies Awards. Winners across 20 categories, including Fastest Rising Startup, Best Founder and, new this year, Best Health Startup, took home the coveted brass monkey statuettes of honor.

TechCrunch, together with GigaOM and VentureBeat, hosted the annual ceremony at San Francisco’s Davies Symphony Hall, honoring companies and individuals that made the biggest impression on their peers and on the industry in 2013.

“The Crunchies let both incumbents and up and comers take a moment to reflect on how far our community has come,” said Alexia Tsotsis, co-editor of TechCrunch. “Every industry increasingly has a tech component, like health and education. This year we've added a best health startup category, since companies like One Medical Group are transforming the business of being well.”

Emceed for a second year in a row by actor and comedian John Oliver, the show kicked off with a surprise musical number by Patrick Blute and Max Druz. Editors, writers and special guests presented awards to the honorees, and the celebration continued during the tech industry’s favorite after-party.

Chosen by public voting, this year’s winners included AirBnB, One Medical Group and UpWorthy. Full list of 2013 winners include:
