Chinese Exports Drop, Markets Plunge

A sharp drop in Chinese exports sent the markets tumbling to a lower open with the Dow plunging 108 points to 16,344. Nasdaq fell 25 points to 4310.

On the upside

Shares of FuelCell (Nasdaq: FCEL) and Plug Power (Nasdaq: PLUG) continued rising.

A Seeking Alpha contributor wrote that Ballard Power (Nasdaq: BLDP) had the most potential among fuel cell makers.

Revolution Lighting Technologies (Nasdaq: RVLT) will pay approximately $35.6 million to acquire Value Lighting.

On the downside


Investors locked in profits on Smith Micro Software (Nasdaq: SMSI).

Biostar Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: BSPM) executed an agreement for $4.1 million worth of common stocks and warrants through a registered direct offering.

Dot Hill Systems (Nasdaq: HILL) extended its losses.

In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of nearly 2 to 1 on the NYSE and by more than 5 to 3 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 dropped 10 points to 1867 Bitcoin slipped $16.01 or 2.51% to $621.27.
