PRLog - May 27, 2014 - MOUNT DORA, Fla. -- Event Date & Time:  June 28, 2014 at 6:30pm
Location:  PizzAmoré (Event Sponsor) 622 N. Donnelly Street, Mount Dora FL

Each June, when PizzAmoré marks its anniversary, there is cause for the community of Mount Dora to celebrate.  Every year at PizzAmoré’s  Annual Birthday Bash & Benefit , a local recipient-in need- is selected as a beneficiary.  This year at PizzAmoré’s  6th Anniversary Bash & Benefit being held June 28th, they have selected the city’s oldest historic church - the Congregational Church of Mount Dora on Donnelly Street.  The total proceeds of the community raffle, plus a portion of sales from PizzAmore’ that evening will be given to the Church to aid their ongoing efforts to raise money for the repair of the Church spire, the pointed portion of the steeple.

“We’d like to refurbish it and have it stand for another century,” said the Rev. Richard P. Don, senior pastor for four years and a member for the past 25 years. Steeped in history, the church traces its roots back to Ross C. Tremain, the city’s first postmaster, who came to the area in 1881, according to church records.  Some of the famous attendees of the Church have been President Calvin Coolidge and his wife in back in 1930.  The Church was even painted bright pink for the feature film “Honkey Tonk Freeway” back in 1980.  “We’re celebrating our 130th year by re-establishing the beauty of the building” said Rev. Don.   “We’re hoping to get the church listed on the National Register of Historic Places once everything is completed.”

Leigh Love, President of PizzAmoré and the Church’s neighbor said, “When the economic times are tough, it’s extremely important for our community to pull together to help our neighbors in their efforts to maintain this invaluable landmark which adds such rich culture and historic value to the story that is Mount Dora”.  “We take this time each year, on our business anniversary, to give back to our community that supports us”, said Jesse Thomas, Vice President of PizzAmoré.

PizzAmoré’s 6th Annual Birthday Bash & Benefit will feature live musical entertainment from a local favorite and former American Idol, David Oliver Willis, as well as entertainment for the whole family, including pace painting and balloon art for children.

The highlight of the evening is a Raffle, with donated prizes and gifts by the generosity of many of Mount Dora’s local businesses.  A few of the businesses represented are:  Matamo Designs, Memories & Marvels, KaDee Kay Gourmet Kitchen Products, Mount Dora Historic Inn and many more.   100% of the raffle proceeds and a portion of PizzAmoré’s event sales will go directly to the Congregational Church of Mount Dora.
