Travelers Named to 2014 Dow Jones Sustainability Index

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) have recognized The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV) as one of only three property casualty insurance companies on its 149-company North America Index. This is the eighth consecutive year that Travelers has been included in the DJSI.

Launched in 1999, the DJSI were the first global indices to track the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. The DJSI are maintained collaboratively by the S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM. Companies are selected for the indices based on an assessment of their long-term economic, environmental, social and governance practices. Only companies that lead their industries based on this assessment are included in the indices.

Over the past five years, Travelers and the Travelers Foundation have contributed more than $100 million in community support, primarily to organizations that focus on education, community development, and arts and culture. Through the Travelers Institute, the company’s public policy division, Travelers participates in public policy dialogue on matters of interest to the property casualty insurance sector, as well as the financial services industry more broadly.

In addition, Travelers supports initiatives and actions that uphold environmentally responsible practices and conserve natural resources. All Travelers-owned campuses are Energy Star Certified and go through an annual recertification process.
