eBay Enterprise Clients Reach More Than $1 Billion in Ship-from Store and In-Store Pickup Sales

eBay Enterprise, an eBay Inc. company, today announced that its clients have achieved more than $1 billion in sales using its industry-leading Store Fulfillment Solutions. eBay Enterprise clients are leading their peers in local commerce by utilizing store fulfillment as a competitive advantage in more than 6,500 stores representing 42 brands across three continents.

Leading retailers Ace Hardware, Shoe Carnival, Destination XL and Designer Shoe Warehouse have all successfully deployed eBay Enterprise Store Fulfillment Solutions. Store fulfillment is also a growing trend outside of the U.S. For example, international retailers Tiger of Sweden and Peak Performance among others have increased the number of stores enabled with Ship-from Store by 47 percent and order volume increased by 108 percent over 2013 volumes.

Ship-from Store is a modular, cloud-based solution that provides full inventory visibility. Physical store inventory can be made for sale online alongside warehouse inventory, and stores can then seamlessly fulfill ecommerce orders directly to the consumer. The solution can be deployed in 90 to 120 days. Destination XL successfully deployed eBay Enterprise Ship-from Store in only 90 days to more than 100 stores and continues to add stores monthly.

Kent Zimmerman, vice president of ecommerce at Shoe Carnival explained, “We needed to reduce the operational cost and complexity of managing siloed inventory for ecommerce while providing the wide assortment of styles that our customer expects. We have the ability to make our entire inventory available to the customer, no matter where they’re located. It really sets the stage for us to truly become an omnichannel company in the eyes of the customer.”

“Store fulfillment solutions like Ship-from Store and In-Store Pickup give online consumers access to inventory across stores, distribution centers, and even suppliers to deliver goods at the best possible speed and cost while preserving the best possible margin for brands and retailers – boosting sales, enhancing the consumer experience and improving customer retention rates,” said Craig Hayman, president, eBay Enterprise. “Adopting omnichannel strategies like this will be critical for retailers in 2015.”

Across its client portfolio, eBay Enterprise clients saw significant benefits from its Store Fulfillment Solutions during the 2014 holiday season. From Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday in 2014, order volume via Ship-from Store and In-Store Pickup increased 34 percent and sales increased by 54 percent over 2013 in the US. Store Fulfillment orders saw the highest growth numbers on Thanksgiving Day with a 210 percent increase in sales, while same store sales for Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday increased by 62 percent over 2013.

The Forrester Wave™: Omnichannel Order Management, Q3 2014 report by Forrester Research, Inc., named eBay Enterprise Store Fulfillment Solutions as a best-of-breed suite, stating “What’s unique about these solutions is that along with managing the pick-and-pack functions within the store with ease, they also contain the routing logic that determines the appropriate fulfillment location. eBay Enterprise was one of the first organizations to support ship-from-store, and the company has leveraged its experience to help many top-tier clients deploy and operate robust omnichannel fulfillment initiatives.”

“The future of retail is omnichannel and eBay Enterprise provides the solutions and expertise for retailers to turn all their store locations into distribution centers,” said Hayman. “As consumers continue to expect faster and cheaper delivery, store fulfillment will be the key to offering choices, convenience and better experiences to shoppers at little cost to the retailers.”
