Connecticut Residents Take Advantage of New DMV App

In 2014, the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and Connecticut Interactive (CI) launched the CT DMV Mobile application, which provides Connecticut residents with access to pertinent DMV information. Since its launch in September, the app has been downloaded over 30,000 times with that number continuing to climb.

"I am happy to see the development of an app like this one to reach a broad segment of DMV's customers who use mobile devices. Our planned addition in the coming weeks of Spanish questions and answers is an exciting enhancement to this new offering from DMV," said DMV Commissioner Andres Ayala, Jr.

The free app details the services available for each DMV and AAA location, office hours, and DMV wait times. The app also features three practice knowledge tests and a parent quiz, both popular DMV study aids to help prepare all applicants for a learner's permit test and give parents of teens needed safety information about their young driver.

Recent updates to CT DMV Mobile include compatibility with the Apple iPad, wait times and services offered at the new DMV Photo License Center in Stamford, CT.

CI and DMV are jointly developing a Spanish version of the practice knowledge test and parents' quiz. This addition to the app is part of the DMV's broad reach to multicultural audiences throughout the state. In Connecticut, residents speaking Spanish comprise the largest segment of second-language households, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

CT DMV Mobile is free to download from the App Store and Google Play on Apple and Android devices, respectively. The app can also be downloaded through the DMV website at ct.gov/dmv/apps.
