Ford Redefines the Car Yet Again with the GT Supercar

Ford's new high-power, high-speed, aerodynamic GT Supercar was unveiled at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
PRLog - Jan. 28, 2015 - BURNS HARBOR, Ind. -- It gives Lake Shore Ford great pride to announce that Ford has developed a supercar that looks like it's ready to leave the competition only a speck in the rearview mirror. The new GT Supercar was unveiled in Detroit at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, and while important information is still up in the air, like the specs of the new EcoBoost engine, Ford has released some official news about what makes the GT such a remarkable car.

Despite not knowing its specs, the GT will have an updated version of the twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine that has been seen on the track at the 2014 United SportsCar Championship. It will be matched with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that should offer almost instant gear shifting.

The best way to take advantage of such a powerful engine is with a precision-sculpted lightweight shell, which means Ford has to go carbon fiber. With the curves, hood vents, grille, and wraparound windshield surrounded by the carbon fiber body, the Ford GT looks like it's come back from the future.

Every inch of the Ford GT is designed for a purpose: to make it the best supercar the world has seen. The steering wheel is designed after F1 racers and has all of the necessary controls built in, the display can be configured to accommodate a huge range of driving scenarios, and the entirely digital instrument cluster delivers diagnostics straight to the driver.

Mark Fields, Ford president and chief executive officer, spoke of the new supercar, “as we at Ford drive innovation into every part of our business, it’s worth remembering that our first innovation as a company was not in a laboratory, but on the racetrack.”
