SuperSonic Imagine to Participate in This Week’s European Congress of Radiology (ECR)

SuperSonic Imagine (Euronext: SSI, FR0010526814), a company specialized in ultrasound medical imaging, will exhibit at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) in Vienna (Austria) from March 4-8 2015. SuperSonic Imagine will provide live scanning demonstrations of the latest Aixplorer® ultrasound system.

SuperSonic Imagine’s Aixplorer® surpasses the limits of traditional ultrasound with its unique UltraFast™ software-based platform. This technology can acquire images 200 times faster than conventional ultrasound systems. The speed of the UltraFast™ platform enables SuperSonic Imagine's proprietary ShearWave™ Elastography technology to assess and quantify tissue stiffness in real time. Tissue stiffness is used by physicians to help identify potentially malignant or other diseased tissue. SuperSonic Imagine’s real time ShearWave™ technology can help physicians detect life-threatening diseases such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, thyroid, and liver fibrosis. It can be used for both adult and pediatric patients.

SuperSonic Imagine’s UltraFast™ Imaging platform also enables Aixplorer®’s UltraFast™ Doppler. Conventional Doppler ultrasound requires two separate exams for imaging and measurement. SuperSonic Imagine’s UltraFast™ Doppler combines Colour Flow Imaging and Pulsed Wave Doppler into one simple exam, providing physicians with exam results simultaneously and helping to increase patient throughput. This technology is used in a wide range of vascular clinical situations such as detecting blockages and evaluating artery walls.

During SuperSonic Imagine’s ECR Satellite Symposium on Wednesday March 4th at 12:30 CET (room M), leading physicians will be discussing “Current and future use of UltraFast™ Imaging.” Presenters will include:

  • Dr Christoph F. Dietrich, Germany: “Integrating ShearWave™ Elastography into your clinical practice in accordance with the EFSUMB guidelines”
  • Dr Stéphanie Franchi-Abella, France: “The benefits of UltraFast™ Imaging in pediatric patients”
  • Dr Georg Salomon, Germany: “ShearWave™ Elastography: Improvement in the detection of prostate cancer”
  • Dr Mickaël Tanter, France: “Future applications of UltraFast™ Imaging: moving toward functional ultrasound”

“We are very pleased to participate again this year at the European Congress of Radiology and bring radiologists our innovative ultrasound technology with advanced imaging and real-time ShearWave Elastography. Our technology can be used across a wide variety of applications including breast, thyroid, liver, abdomen, musculoskeletal, prostate, OB/GYN, vascular, and pediatrics,” said Jacques Souquet, CEO SuperSonic Imagine. “Radiologists and their patients will benefit from our broad range of solutions to help increase patient throughput and diagnosis confidence as well as improved patient outcomes.”

SuperSonic Imagine will be present at ECR in booth 4, Extension Hall A from March 4-8. A recorded version of the symposium will be available at www.supersonicimagine.com.

About SuperSonic Imagine

Founded in 2005 and based in Aix-en-Provence (France), SuperSonic Imagine is a company specializing in medical imaging. The company designs, develops and markets a revolutionary ultrasound system, Aixplorer®, with an UltraFast™ platform that can acquire images 200 times faster than conventional ultrasound systems. Aixplorer® is the only system that can image two types of waves: ultrasound waves ensure excellent image quality and shear waves, which allow physicians to visualize and analyze the stiffness of tissue in a real-time, reliable, reproducible and non-invasive manner. This innovation, ShearWave™ Elastography, significantly improves the detection and characterization of numerous pathologies in several applications including breast, thyroid, liver and prostate. SuperSonic Imagine has been granted regulatory clearances for the commercialization of Aixplorer® in the main global markets. Over the past years, SuperSonic Imagine enjoyed the backing of several prestigious investors, among which Auriga Partners, Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners, Bpifrance, Omnes Capital and NBGI.
