HKTDC International Jewellery Show Dazzles Global Visitors

New Diamond Quality Assurance Mark Launched Today

HONG KONG, Mar 4, 2015 - (ACN Newswire) - The 32nd HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show opened today and runs through 8 March at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Together with the International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show (2-6 March) at the AsiaWorld-Expo, the event is the world's largest marketplace for the jewellery industry, featuring more than 4,360 exhibitors from 52 countries and regions.

Quality Assured

Among today's highlights of the Jewellery Show was the launch of a new Natural Diamond Quality Assurance Mark (NDQA). This initiative of the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong (DFHK) aims to maintain Hong Kong's reputation as an international diamond trading hub for both traders and consumers. Participants of the scheme are committed to not selling man-made or synthetic diamonds or any other non-natural diamonds of a similar nature.

Inspired By Nature

A variety of stunning finished pieces are on display at the Jewellery Show with a number of designs inspired by the beauty of nature. Shining examples include a ring featuring yellow diamonds to depict Vincent Van Gogh's Sunflowers masterpiece, while a jadeite collection takes its prompt from a traditional Chinese painting of a pine tree, complete with diamond leaves and sapphire fruit designs. Among the many other eye-catching products on display are "The Bridges of New York", a collection of 12 pieces inspired by iconic New York landmarks.

Crafted Beauty

The inaugural Treasures of Craftsmanship zone celebrates design talent, featuring intricate carvings of gold, silver and precious gems. Among the seven zones returning to the show this year is the Hall of Extraordinary, with a magnificent display of prestigious fine jewels. More than 40 leading international brands are showcased at the Hall of Fame, while the Antique & Jewellery Galleria, with its selection of exquisite vintage pieces, features close to 90 exhibitors. This year also marks the 12th edition of the Hall of Time zone with a wide variety of eye-catching watches and clocks.

Show And Tell

During the Jewellery Show there are a range of jewellery parades, networking events and trade forums. These include today's "World of Glamour" Mini Parade and the "Hall of Time" Mini Parade on 8 March. Tomorrow's programme includes two seminars; "The Secret of Top-Class Jewellery Designers" and "The Development of Platinum Jewellery in Japan and the World". The seminar on "Achieving Global Success in Jewellery E-tailing Market" takes place on 6 March.

Talents Shine

Another feature of the opening day is this evening's International Jewellery Design Excellence Award Presentation Ceremony. This year, the competition featured 191 entries from 31 countries and regions, making it the largest and most international contest to date. Meanwhile, winning entries from the 16th Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition are on display at Hall 1D Concourse of the HKCEC.
