Cavirin Names JD Sherry as CEO

Cavirin Systems today announced that JD Sherry, a prominent expert in cyber security and compliance, has joined the company in the role of CEO. Sherry was previously a global vice president for Trend Micro and is frequently featured on television and in industry press, speaking on topics related to cyber security and cybercrime prevention.

“I am very excited about joining a company that is taking a new approach to helping organizations achieve both continuous compliance and security,” Sherry said. “At Cavirin, we recognize the fact that cyber risk management starts with complete transparency and the continuous evaluation of risk. We anticipate that compliance and security initiatives won’t decrease in scope; rather, they will likely become an integral part of every single organization doing business online.”

Sherry is well-versed in enterprise and datacenter architecture and has successfully implemented large-scale public, private and hybrid clouds. Over the last decade, he has established himself as a trusted senior advisor for the protection of Payment Card Industry (PCI), Health Information Privacy Act (HIPAA) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data.

Sherry spent the last decade in senior IT leadership roles. Before his post at Trend Micro, he spent seven years with publicly traded NIC (NASDAQ:EGOV) as vice president of technology, where he was directly responsible for EGOV.com’s centralized technology and security strategy. While at NIC/EGOV.com, he managed technology platforms that processed over $18 billion in payments on behalf of individuals, businesses and governments. Sherry has also held various leadership positions within Honeywell FM&T, a company that manufactures and assembles 85 percent of the non-nuclear components in nuclear weapons. He has held Top Secret clearance and holds an M.B.A./IT degree from Jones University and a B.S. degree from the University of Nebraska.
