Comcast Offers Free Asian American Content as Sponsor of CAAMFest 2015

Comcast today announced it will feature a special collection of Asian American movies, entertainment news and blogs as part of the company’s sponsorship of CAAMFest 2015, the Center for Asian American Media’s (CAAM) international Asian American film festival held annually in San Francisco. The programming will feature films from CAAMFest and will be accessible to all Comcast customers on Xfinity Asia, Comcast’s online microsite dedicated to Asian American entertainment, and on Xfinity On Demand.

“CAAMFest is a leader in uncovering new talent and showcasing multicultural entertainment that appeals to a broad and international audience,” stated Rebecca Simpson, Executive Director of International Strategy & Programming for Comcast. “Comcast is excited to once again sponsor CAAMFest and to bring a rich collection of Asian American content to our customers.”

The special collection will also feature interviews and news from CAAMFest and photos of directors and actors along with access to films from past festivals.

Highlights include:

  • Exciting Interviews with Content Creators – Xfinity Asia will feature exciting interviews with several talented actors/actresses and filmmakers including Grace Lee, John Pirozzi, Willa Cuthrell-Tuttleman, Tiya Sarcar and Ravi Kapoor.
  • New CAAM Releases – View a new CAAM film for free on Xfinity Asia including “Once Upon a Rooftop”, “Employed Identity – Ham Tran” and “CAAMFest Sound Bites – Love X Stereo.”
  • The Best of CAAMFest – Top films from the past festival will be available on Xfinity on Demand in the Cinema Asian America film collection. The top films include Steven J. Kung’s “A Leading Man,” Hao Wu’s “The Road to Fame” and Aggie Ebrahimi Bazaz’s “Inheritance.”

As part of Comcast’s sponsorship of CAAMFest, the company will also provide an #XFINITYLounge on March 12 during the opening night gala, where guests can relax, charge their phones, and remember the night by taking photos at the Xfinity Photo Booth. By using the #XFINITYLounge, following @XFINITYAsia or “liking” the WatchAsianAmerica Facebook page, guests will have a chance to win giveaways.

“Our presence at CAAMFest allows us to truly interact with attendees and showcase the great content available on Xfinity Asia,” added Simpson.

CAAMFest is the nation’s largest showcase of new Asian American and Asian films and runs from March 12 to 22. The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to presenting stories that convey the richness and diversity of Asian Americans’ experiences to the broadest audience possible.
