Representatives of the Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II Memorial Fund recently attended a fundraiser for the NJ Run For The Fallen which was held at the Bayview Inn, Wildwood Crest, NJ, to make a special donation of $5,000 to support the annual run, which will take place September 24th to September 27th, 2015 from Cape May, NJ to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Holmdel, NJ.

The core runners run one mile and place a flag in honor of those servicemen/women from NJ who were killed in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Flags are also placed in honor of all servicemen/women who were killed in all wars.  At each chosen marker, the core runners read the name of the fallen, a short bio and place a memorial flag.  One mile – one hero – one flag.

“I can’t believe this wonderful gift,” said a tearful Mike Simpson as he realized that his dream of being able to present an Honor and Remember Flag to each Family at each marker would be realized with the Zilinski Fund’s donation

“Honoring and remembering our fallen is paramount to all Gold Star Families,” said Dennis Zilinski, co-founder of the memorial fund and Gold Star Father.

The fund was created and founded in 2006 in order to honor local resident 1st Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II, United States Army, who was killed in action on November 19, 2005 while deployed in Iraq.
