Valmie Resources (VMRI) Encourages Public and Lawmaker Support of Unmanned Vehicle Innovation

DENVER, CO / ACCESSWIRE / April 8, 2015 / Gerald B. Hammack, President and CEO of Valmie Resources Inc. (OTCQB: VMRI) commented on the successful coast-to-coast automated drive recently completed by Delphi Automotive (NYSE: DLPH). "This accomplishment pushes the autonomous vehicle sector forward and demonstrates the remarkable advancements taking place in sense and avoid technology," said Hammack. "If we are able to have autonomous cars driving safely on the highways, drones equipped with similar sense and avoid technologies can also operate safely in the national airspace."

"The autonomous vehicle revolution is coming into its own and an amazing new era lies ahead for engineers, innovators, entrepreneurs and investors. Innovations in the drone space are evolving rapidly as the sector is attracting some of the brightest minds in science and engineering," said Hammack. "Valmie encourages the public and lawmakers to become actively involved in helping shape responsible regulations that will allow innovation on our roads and in our national airspace."

Currently, proposed Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules require that unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV's) weighing less than 55 pounds be flown in daylight within the visual line of sight of the operator without the use of visual aids such as binoculars. The FAA's proposed rules now will go through a public review and comment period that could last two years. During this time, drone companies are expected to make significant advances in sense-and-avoid technologies, which could allay the FAA's safety concerns.

Observers say that it's likely the rules will at some point be modified to allow flight out of sight as the technology matures. "I'm pretty confident that there are enough people with money on the line that are going to prove their case on testing grounds in labs and abroad, gather the data and have an incentive to have the regulations changed," said Gregory McNeal, a Pepperdine professor of law and public policy who frequently writes about the subject of drones.

Along with its soon to be completed V-1 Drone, Valmie is in the process of developing its first-generation Software as a Service (SaaS) AIMD Platform. The AIMD (Autonomous Intelligence for Mobile Devices) Platform is Valmie's proprietary end-to-end solution designed to collect and send data from the unmanned vehicles' independent controller units back to a cloud-based modular resource network for aggregation and analysis. This platform will give drones and other unmanned vehicles improved communication abilities with remote hubs and other mobile devices. The AIMD Platform will have the capability to determine intervention thresholds, quickly route predetermined responses, communicate critical information to the operator, and in some cases deploy solutions in real time.
