451 Research Survey of Almost 2,000 Companies Confirms IBM as Most Likely Cloud Hosting Partner

IBM (NYSE:IBM) today announced that a 451 Research survey of almost 2,000 enterprise cloud users has named IBM as the company most likely to win significant cloud hosting projects. The survey was commissioned by Microsoft.

Key findings from the survey, Hosting and Cloud Survey 2015, include:

  • 50 percent of current public cloud users are already shifting workload to private cloud environments, and 52 percent expect to do so in the future. The primary reason for this shift is security, followed by control.
  • IBM is listed as the company most likely to win Cloud business (18 percent), followed by Microsoft (11 percent) and Amazon Web Services (6 percent).
  • The primary reasons that companies are moving to Cloud have little to do with cost, but rather business growth, agility, and quality.

The full survey can be found here.

This report comes on the heels of recent confirmation from Synergy Research naming IBM as the leader in the Private/Hybrid Cloud marketplace with approximately 13 percent marketshare:
