Media General’s WSLS-TV Wins National Edward R. Murrow Award

Media General, Inc. (“Media General”; NYSE: MEG), one of the nation's largest connected-screen media companies, announced that WSLS-TV, the local NBC affiliate in Roanoke, VA, has won the prestigious National Edward R. Murrow Award for “Hard News Reporting.”

The Radio Television Digital News Association (“RTDNA”) honored WSLS-TV for its story about authorities in Virginia during the mid-twentieth century that deemed certain people not fit to have children and surgically sterilized them without their consent. The story raised awareness of the issue with the Commonwealth’s top lawmakers, who decided that each victim deserved to be compensated for the injustice.
