Toyota to Showcase Accessible Mobility at International Home Care and Rehabilitation Exhibition in Tokyo

Toyota City, Japan, Sept 25, 2015 - (ACN Newswire) - Toyota will debut a specially equipped vehicle featuring a rotating and tilting passenger seat at the 42nd International Home Care and Rehabilitation Exhibition, Asia's largest exhibition of rehabilitation equipment, which will be taking place at Tokyo Big Sight from October 7 through October 9.

The rotating and tilting passenger seat facilitates ingress and egress by allowing the front section of the seat cushion to be lowered significantly. The seat also reduces the amount of space needed for ingress and egress in parking lots. The seat is set to become available as an option in Japan in late December.

Among other models on display, Toyota will also show a Sienta minivan that can accommodate a reclining wheelchair, while a forward-folding ramp facilitates loading and unloading through the rear doors.

A new range of user-friendly features, initially available on the recently redesigned Sienta, will consist of dealer-fitted options such as grip handles and side support pads that help occupants maintain posture during ingress and egress and while traveling.

In total, Toyota will have nine vehicles on display, covering the latest models in its Welcab range of specially equipped vehicles. This year's exhibit has been crafted to showcase user-friendly features that improve ease of access, while demonstrating how such features are closer than ever to being incorporated into mainstream models.
