The Finish Line Youth Foundation announced today the award of $77,310 in grants for the fourth quarter of 2015. The 16 grants will help organizations in 13 states that focus on healthy lifestyles, youth development and special needs. In total, the Youth Foundation donated more than $515,500 nationwide with more than $82,200 given to Indianapolis non-profits during 2015.
“Thanks to our supporters, we are pleased to have the opportunity to make change happen and empower these 16 organizations to positively impact the lives of local youth,” said Marty Posch, Finish Line Youth Foundation president.
The Finish Line Youth Foundation supports qualified non-profit organizations that provide community-based access to athletics for children and camps that provide services to those who are disadvantaged or disabled.
The deadline to submit grant applications online for this quarter is March 31, 2016.
CAMPS:
Apple Ridge Farm (Roanoke, Va.) – $5,000 for academic summer camp for 375 at-risk youth residing in public housing communities.
Camp Sunshine at Sebago Lake (Casco, Maine) – $7,000 to support camp for 1,600 children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation (Tucson, Ariz.) – $3,600 for therapeutic family camp for 100 children and teens with cancer.
Center for the Visually Impaired (Atlanta, Ga.) – $5,000 for STARS summer enrichment camp for 50 blind and visually impaired youth.
Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (Riverdale, N.J.) – $5,000 for a high ropes course for 1,200 girls to develop teamwork, communication and confidence.
Moorestown Visiting Nurse Association (Moorestown, N.J.) – $3,500 for Camp Firefly overnight camp for 70 children who have recently lost a parent or loved one.
Opportunity Community Ability (Orlando, Fla.) – $5,000 for OCA summer camp for 110 special needs children.
The First Tee of Benton Harbor (Benton Harbor, Mich.) – $4,210 to support Project Walk It On teaching 30 youth leadership and healthy lifestyles through the game of golf.
YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles (Northridge, Calif.) – $5,000 for Mammoth Caravan Kidney Camp for 40 underserved children with kidney disease.
HEALTHY LIFESTYLES:
Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus (Columbus, Ohio) – $5,000 for a volleyball league to encourage healthy lifestyles for 450 at-risk youth.
Deliver the Dream (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) – $5,000 for a family retreat program serving 3,714 children and families with serious illness.
Early Learning Indiana (Indianapolis) – $5,000 for a summer health and water safety program for 458 children promoting healthy and active lifestyles.
Epilepsy Foundation of Western Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh, Pa.) – $5,000 for Bounce Out the Stigma program to empower 40 special needs youth with epilepsy.
Lovelane Special Needs Horseback Riding (Lincoln, Mass.) – $5,000 for tuition assistance for 130 children and families to off-set therapeutic horseback riding fees.
Maryhurst (Louisville, Ky.) – $5,000 for a health and wellness program for 140 girls recovering from traumatic abuse and neglect.
YMCA of Central Stark (Canton, Ohio) – $4,000 to support the Eric Snow YMCA basketball league for 240 underserved youth.
