Chevron Educates Attendees of MATS on the Next Generation of Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Oils

Chevron Products Company, a Chevron U.S.A. Inc. division and leader in lubricant technology, will be extending its PC-11 educational awareness program to the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) to help educate owner/operators of fleets of all sizes of the new category of heavy duty motor oils (HDMO). Chevron has a full schedule of education and entertainment slated for Thursday through Saturday to help prepare MATS attendees for the upcoming change, known as PC-11. On Thursday, Chevron Lubricant’s Senior Staff Engineer and Chairman of the ASTM Heavy Duty Engine Oil Classification Panel, Shawn Whitacre, will present: “PC-11Explained, A Change for the Better.” Shawn will explain what drove the need for a new category of oils, the latest developments in PC-11, why these oils are better and the benefits to the end user.

“We saw MATS as a great way to extend our PC-11 education campaign and provide a face-to-face opportunity for MATS attendees to get their questions answered and learn fact from fiction around the next generation of heavy duty engine oils,” said Rommel Atienza, Chevron Lubricants North America Commercial Brands Manager. “As the industry moves toward implementation of the new API CK-4 and FA-4 categories, we want to clear up any confusion and show that this is a change for the better. It’s been 10 years since the last new HDMO category, and the new oils offer significant performance enhancements compared to the current category.”

That’s just the beginning of three days of activities at the Chevron Delo Booth – aka PC-11 Central:

  • “Fact or Fiction” PC-11 Panels -- Thursday and Friday Chevron will host “Fact or Fiction,” a panel discussion created to dispel misperception around the next generation of engine oils. Chevron will bring together a group of industry experts to address some of the biggest misunderstandings and to answer audience questions. The two panels will be moderated by Kevin Rutherford, host of SiriusXM® radio show “Trucking Business and Beyond,” (Thursday) and KC Phillips, host of “Road Dog Live” (Friday). Panelists will include prominent editors from trucking publications Fleet Owner, Heavy Duty Trucking and Overdrive Magazine/Commercial Carrier Journal, as well as Shawn Whitacre, Leonard Badal, Global Commercial Brand Manager at Chevron Lubricants, and Glenn McDonald, Director of Fleet Maintenance, Ozark Motors and Chairman of Group Studies for TMC.
  • “Real vs. Reality” Game Show -- On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Chevron will hold a competition (two on Friday) with long time Delo users and reality TV celebrities currently featured in Chevron’s “Reality of Delo” marketing campaign. MATS attendees will challenge the experts in a game show for a chance to win cash and prizes. Celebrities scheduled to attend will include: Lisa Kelly from HISTORY Network’s® Ice Road Truckers®, Edgar Hansen from Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch and Freddy Dodge from Discovery Channel’s Gold Rush.
  • PC-11 Central -- Shawn Whitacre, Len Badal and other experts will be in the Chevron Delo booth throughout the show to answer questions first hand, discuss the benefits of the upcoming API CK-4 and API FA-4 categories of HDMO and to help owner/operators and fleets prepare for the upcoming oil change. Chevron continues to be a leader in establishing progressively improved HDMO performance that helps increase engine durability, improve fuel economy and reduce emissions. Since 1987, the company has successfully led the introduction of seven different categories from API CE through API CJ-4. Chevron executives play an instrumental role in generating the industry consensus that must be reached to continue moving forward.
