UPDATE 1-Brazil's Itaú misses estimates as defaults, provisions soar

SAO PAULO, May 3 (Reuters) - Itaú Unibanco Holding SA missed first-quarter profit estimates on Tuesday, with return on equity touching the lowest readings in three years, after a jump in defaults forced Brazil's largest bank by market value to sharply ramp up loan-loss provisions.
