10 Corso Como Celebrates Its 25-Year Anniversary With Announcement That It Will Be Opening in the U.S.

Today, 10 Corso Como celebrates its 25-year anniversary with the special announcement that it will be opening 10 Corso Como New York in 2017.

10 Corso Como, recognized for creating a unique lifestyle destination that has had a global influence on future forward culture, will partner with TheHoward Hughes Corporation® to open its only U.S. location in Manhattan's revitalized historic Seaport District in 2017.

10 Corso Como will have its New York home in the Fulton Market Building, occupying approximately 13,000 SF, and will be designed by American artist Kris Ruhs who has created 10 Corso Como’s distinctive visual style throughout its locations in Milano, Seoul, Shanghai and Beijing.

New York’s vibrant waterfront will become the nexus of 10 Corso Como New York by creating the same editorial attitude found in the other 10 Corso Como environments - the philosophy of “slow shopping” evolving into a wider concept of the lifestyle café and the outstanding and bold insights regarding its unique world of culture and commerce. Reflecting the breadth of its offerings - culture, design and lifestyle - 10 Corso Como’s hospitality will create a social gathering space where its philosophy of slow shopping will find a home in the New York vocabulary.

“As a European, I am very excited to see 10 Corso Como come to the place where New York City was born. The Seaport District’s history of international commerce and innovation is inspiring. I am looking forward to creating an extraordinary destination in such a unique neighborhood where the interests of the community are a focus for growth,” said Carla Sozzani, Founder of 10 Corso Como.

“Bringing such an important and influential brand in the creative and fashion sectors to the Seaport District will be a tremendous addition to New York City,” said David R. Weinreb, Chief Executive Officer of The Howard Hughes Corporation. “Given the Seaport District’s history as the city’s birthplace of innovation, we have been sharply focused on curating cutting-edge experiences across food, entertainment, fashion and culture. 10 Corso Como is a consummate example of our vision for the Seaport District.”

An essential part of New York for over 300 years, the Seaport District is currently being revitalized by The Howard Hughes Corporation and will encompass seven buildings on several city blocks totaling more than 400,000 square feet. With its unmatched offerings, the Seaport District will become a leading destination in New York City for cutting-edge fashion, dining, entertainment and cultural experiences.

About 10 Corso Como

In Milan in 1990, gallerist, publisher, and former fashion editor Carla Sozzani opened the Galleria Carla Sozzani in an industrial building, and a year later conceived 10 Corso Como as a virtual narrative of a magazine layout. Turning a garage into a lifestyle and fashion zone, 10 Corso Como abandoned all accepted retail practices of the time. Through its promotion of art, fashion and design in a succession of spaces and events, a new template for the union of retail and culture was created, the word “concept store” was coined by sociologist Francesco Morace and the philosophy of slow shopping evolved into a global phenomenon.
