This lake cruise debut is just in time for the 2017 Fall Foliage Season, but Cherry Blossom Viewing Cruises will operate in April 2018, with continued cruise offerings through summer and autumn.
TOKYO, Japan - Oct. 12, 2017 - PRLog -- Located about two hours north of Tokyo, along the TOBU Railway line, is the historic, culturally rich, and breathtakingly scenic, nature-filled region of Nikko/ Kinugawa Onsen.  Here, in the mountains just above the main Nikko UNESCO World Heritage Temples and Shrines (http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1548), travelers should not miss spectacular Lake Chuzenji. At 4,163 feet above sea level, the 535-foot deep, nearly 4.5 miles-square Chuzenji-ko is the highest lake in Japan.

Now, a new excursion boat "Nantai," takes travelers around the lake, showing off:  golden and crimson foliage, pink and white cherry blossoms, pink and fuchsia Japanese Primrose flowers, or dense greenery – depending upon the season. These seasonal displays of nature blanket sacred Mt. Nantai, whose eruptions created Lake Chuzenji at its feet, nearly 20,000 years ago.

Nantai Cruises operate through November 30 and resume in April 2018.  Boats depart Chuzenji Station from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm (full timetable: http://www.chuzenjiko-cruise.com/timetable.html).  In addition to Chuzenji, stops include the port of Shobugahama (http://www.nikko-aqua.com/en/aqua/spot.php?id=24) and Tachikikannon -- site of the 1300-year-old Chuzenji Temple.  Fees for the 55-minute circle course are: ¥1250 for adults, ¥1250 for junior high school students, and ¥630 for elementary school students. Group rates are also available as is a special private room for ¥4000.The eco-friendly ship is equipped with solar power generation, and for those tourists excited to post photos on the spot, free Wi-Fi is available!
