Canadian Adventurer Throws His Hat Into The Ring for Amazing Air Adventure

By: PRLog
Mark Jennings-Bates has entered for a position on a vintage air rally with www.VintageAirRally.com to fly a gyroplane from Patagonia to Florida in spring 2018.

Jennings-Bates who is no stranger to this type of adventure successfully led a team to a Guinness World Record on paramotors in Australia in 2012.

The challenge ahead for Jennings-Bates is that he does not have a pilots license.

NELSON, British Columbia - Oct. 25, 2017 - PRLog -- Bigger challenges have not prevented Jennings-Bates from completing his task and as usual he views this as a logistics problem to overcome if he should get selected.

"I really need a pilot in command, an instructor who can assist me and make sure that I fly safely from Patagonia to Florida for the Sun N Fun airshow. Thankfully I have an agreement with a top notch instructor from Florida who is willing to be a substantial part of the team," said Jennings-Bates.

The Vintage Air Rally organisation has already run one successful trip from Crete to Cape Horn in 2017 and is currently planning for this intrepid adventure navigating up the spine of South America, through the Amazon and across to Cuba before arriving in Florida.

Jennings-Bates who is VP Americas for PAL-V, the flying car company from the Netherlands is among a strong contingent of pilots and teams from around the world vying for one of the 15 spots on this all expense paid aviation adventure.

"For me, if we get selected, it is a bit of a dry run before attempting to fly a flying car around the world in the next few years," added Jennings-Bates, who has been planning to be the first person to fly a flying car around the globe.

For Vintage Air Rally, the organisers of the Ushuaia2USA event, the next week will be a busy one as they close the application process and review applicants to decide who will be participating in the spring.

For his part, Jennings-Bates is hoping that he will get selected to represent Canada and meet a contingent of incredible pilots who have a passion for aviation and in particular vintage aircraft.

"It is a wonderful juxtaposition of me potentially flying a gyroplane amongst old bi-panes and vintage aircraft and at the same time being part of launching the worlds first commercial flying car," surmised Jennings-Bates.
