FONAR Corporation (NASDAQ:FONR), The Inventor of MR Scanning™, announced three new sales of its unique UPRIGHT® Multi-Position™ MRI, continuing the growing sales momentum of the UPRIGHT® MRI. Just a month ago, FONAR announced the sale of 6 UPRIGHT® MRIs to one customer, Health Diagnostics of New York. Since then FONAR announced another sale in Europe. The three most recent sales bring the number of FONAR UPRIGHT® Multi-Position™ MRI units sold to 164.
Confirming the groundbreaking benefits of the FONAR UPRIGHT® Multi-Position™ MRI, many customers who buy it become repeat customers. Of 86 customers 27 have now purchased a second, third, fourth or greater number of UPRIGHT® MRI scanners. One of the three (3) sales was to a repeat customer in Florida. The other two (2) are new.
One of the three states in which the recent sales occurred requires a Certificate of Public Need (COPN). It was issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health.
Raymond Damadian, M.D., president and founder of FONAR said, “I am very pleased with the current sales momentum and expect it to continue increasing. The key to our success is the medical power of FONAR’s new technology and how well we take care of our customers.
“The three new sales underscore the medical necessity of FONAR’s UPRIGHT® Multi-Position™ MRI for evaluating back pain. This unique advantage was underscored by the just-released publication of UCLA’s study of more than 1,000 patients. The Study compared dynamic Upright MRI with static Upright MRI, revealing a dramatic average “miss rate” of static MRI of over 18%. (The Spine Journal 7(2007) 1S-163S, October 23-27, 2007, Austin, Texas).
“I believe surgeons, radiologists and other healthcare practitioners are becoming increasingly aware of the outstanding benefits of the FONAR UPRIGHT® Multi-Position™ MRI,” continued Dr. Damadian. “The UCLA data make it obvious to the surgeon that the UPRIGHT® Multi-Position™ Dynamic™ MRI image, which doesn’t “miss” pathology, is the key to first rate outcomes from surgery.”
Next week, from November 25 – 29, FONAR will attend the 93rd meeting of the Radiological Society of North American in Chicago. This event, which is the largest medical meeting in North America, can be expected to have 60,000 attendees. “With all the FONAR sales momentum underway, we are looking forward to an “Upright Dynamic” RSNA 2007,” Dr. Damadian said.
