Two distrusting childhood friends take an ill-fated hunting trip into Appalachian darkness in the new supernatural drama, APOSTATE. Written and directed by Luke H. Walker and Starring Michael C. Williams in his first breakout role since the Blair Witch Project.
Bobby Briggs (Michael C. Williams) plays a psychically wounded four-tour combat veteran who's guarding a dark secret about his manipulative childhood friend and former commanding officer Billy Bains; it's a secret that could cost them more than their friendship.
Tensions rise to a boil during an impromptu hunting trip in the Appalachian mountains as Billy attempts to salvage their friendship and to plead for solidarity against heinous wartime allegations, but as this psychedelic and bipolar journey into the unknown unfolds, we find there can be no solace in friendship, and no reprieve from the consequences of evil deeds. As a series of inexplicable supernatural events shape their fate, and a relentless escalation to tragedy unfolds, we discover the underlying dark forces at play that seek to feed the men's deepest fears, drive them apart, and consume them.
APOSTATE is slated to begin shooting June 27, 2020, in North Carolina.
