Support for a program to pay reparations to descendants of slaves is gaining momentum, but could come with a $12 trillion price tag

This summer's protests following George Floyd's death pushed the topic of racial injustice and a potential reparations program to the forefront of the national debate. A number of politicians, states and towns are grappling with the idea, but a federal compensation plan could cost the U.S. government between $10 trillion and $12 trillion.
