Yoga Reaches Out Encourages Yoga Enthusiasts to Join the Movement and Support Kids Facing Devastating Disease

Yoga Reaches Out, a yoga filled fundraising event is bringing together yogis of all abilities across the globe to raise funds to support care and research for children coping with disease at Boston Children’s Hospital. Celebrating its 10th year, the event will have a diverse group of 16 instructors who will inspire and guide participants online through a day of yoga practice on October 25.

Each year Yoga Reaches Out invites participants from all over New England to gather at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA. However, in April of this year, when the event was originally scheduled, organizers had to reimagine the event and make some adjustments to align with COVID-19 guidelines. This year’s virtual format will allow for more participants than ever before as the size of a physical location will not restrict the number of attendees. Anyone interested in participating can register at the following link. The fee to register is $25 and all participants are encouraged to fundraise.

“For 10 years, yogis from all over have come together to support the families from around the world who come to Boston Children’s Hospital to find answers,” said Mark ElBach, Manager of Yoga Reaches Out at Boston Children’s Hospital. “Through the course of that time the event has raised over $2 million for the hospital. While this year’s event won’t allow us to convene in-person to celebrate these milestones, it will open new doors to additional participants through our virtual format – we’re inviting people of all ages and any location to be part of this incredible community.”

Money raised through the event will benefit kids from every state and more than 160 countries who come to Boston Children’s Hospital for lifesaving care, through its Every Child Fund. This fund fuels promising research, care and vital family services not covered by insurance. In addition, donations will also support The Wellness Program at the hospital. This program offers things like massage, yoga, Reiki and meditation to parents, siblings and patient family members so they can be their best for their sick child.

“For me this event brings a greater purpose to something I love,” said Nandini Narayanan from California. “It helps me really focus not only on my well-being through my love of yoga, but it also lets me do something positive for the many patients and families searching for answers and hope at Boston Children’s Hospital. As a parent of a former patient, it is the best way for me to say thank you for the care that saved my son’s life and provide support for other parents encountering similar health challenges with their children.”
