Floral Triptych design to cheer young patients
Baton Rouge, Louisiana Jun 12, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - Graphic artist and painter Celeste Payne was commissioned to create a floral triptych representing flowers of Louisiana for a local children's hospital.
A hospital patron purchased one of Payne's paintings of magnolia at a local artist market. The painting's composition included a bold magnolia in the foreground and a purple and metallic gold background. Payne was then commissioned to create three additional colorful depictions of Louisiana flowers. She chose the Louisiana Phlox, Luna Hibiscus, and Blackeyed Susan.
"I describe my styles as simple, bold, colorful, and semi-abstract," Payne states. In the three painting series, she honed in on the simplicity of the forms of the flowers and then used color play and value to add depth and detail to the works.
Payne realized her passion for art at a young age. At age five, she asked for an artist easel and a paint set. She later earned her BA in Art with a concentration in Visual Communications from North Carolina Central University, the HBCU that famed artist Ernie Barnes attended. Some of Barnes' work was featured in the 1970's sitcom Good Times as the paintings of Jay Jay Evans.
Payne furthered her education at The Ohio State University studying computer-mediated art education and gained her teaching certificate from the University of Florida. She currently operates her own art studio and teaches traditional and digital arts in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
"As an educator, artist, and mom, I feel blessed that my artistic gift will bring joy to the young patients of the hospital," Payne concluded.
