FONAR's European Distributor Sells a Second FONAR UPRIGHT Multi-Position MRI to Hospital in The Netherlands

FONAR Corporation (NASDAQ:FONR), The Inventor of MR Scanning announced today that a FONAR UPRIGHT® Multi-Position MRI has been sold to The Hospital ZorgSaam Zeeuws-Vlaanderen in Terneuzen, The Netherlands. Radiologists at hospital ZorgSaam Zeeuws-Vlaanderen sought the advanced technology provided by the FONAR UPRIGHT® Multi-Position MRI to increase the diagnostic precision of the images of weight-bearing anatomy establishing for their hospital a new standard of excellence throughout Europe for orthopedic surgical outcomes. This is the fifth UPRIGHT® MRI sold by Tecserena, GmbH, FONARs European distributor since 2006.

Camiel Raaijmakers, M.D., Hospital ZorgSaam Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, said, My colleague, Frank Raat, M.D. and I as radiologists became intrigued and fascinated by the FONAR UPRIGHT® MRI system during our yearly visits to the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) exhibit, in Chicago. We realized that UPRIGHT® MR imaging could be the answer for many of our questions in spinal imaging that cannot adequately be solved with our recumbent MRI system. Especially, patients with degenerative instability and spinal canal stenosis, whiplash patients and postoperative patients with failed back surgery. In younger patients, in need of scoliosis imaging, it is the perfect answer to reduce the radiation exposure during yearly follow-ups.

In our hospital in Terneuzen, Netherlands, there is a multidisciplinary approach of pelvic floor problems, continued Dr. Raaijmakers. The UPRIGHT® MRI is an ideal tool for non-invasive dynamic pelvic floor imaging.

We intend to collaborate with the orthopedic surgeons at the University Hospital of Ghent (Belgium) for follow-up of meniscal transplants. So far there has been no imaging possibility to predict graft extrusion. Now it is possible to perform weight-bearing imaging for this indication with the UPRIGHT® MRI, said Dr. Raaijmakers.

It (The FONAR UPRIGHT® Multi-Position MRI) is a very patient and child-friendly truly open MRI system that is easily accessible for obese and claustrophobic patients. But also, cardiovascular compromised patients can be examined in an upright position, an added value to the existing diagnostic modalities, explained Dr. Raaijmakers.

FONAR has now sold 166 UPRIGHT® Multi-Position MRI scanners. Eleven occurred during the quarter ending September 30, 2007 and five in the quarter ending December 31, 2007. Raymond Damadian, M.D., president and founder of FONAR said, Naturally we at FONAR see the FONAR UPRIGHT® Multi-Position MRI as indispensable to top quality medical care, particularly in the diagnosis and treatment of problems in the spine and other weight-bearing anatomy.

Tecserena was established as a distributor for FONAR's MRI products in Europe by Matthias Schulz, Alfred Schlemmer and Holger Frey. For additional information about Tecserena, visit www.tecserena.com, or call +49 221 340 2890.
