Mformation’s Advanced Device Management Solution Actively Supporting 1.5 Million Devices Per Day

Mformation® Technologies Inc., the mobile device management (MDM) leader, today announced record achievements during 2008, including significant growth in its mobile operator customer base, acceleration in advanced mobile device management services launched by its customers, growth in activity and active subscribers, an increase in the number device models managed by Mformation’s MDM software and an expanded handset partner ecosystem. Mformation’s central role with operators and device vendors has moved forward the implementation of key standards such as OMA DM throughout the industry.

In 2008, Mformation experienced significant growth in its customer base and its active deployments; it launched MDM services with the leading mobile operators worldwide, and now has over 40 deployments in live production of MFORMATION SERVICE MANAGER™, its advanced device management solution. The largest and most demanding mobile operators around the world are using Mformation’s MDM solution to manage their subscribers.

OPERATOR CUSTOMERS LAUNCH INNOVATIVE SERVICES

During 2008, 30 of Mformation’s mobile operator customers successfully launched or extended device management services based on Mformation’s platform. These customers span North America, Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa, and are deploying across both CDMA and GSM cellular network technologies as well as over 4G WiMAX networks. Some of the highlights:

  • Many leading tier-1 operators launched enterprise device management services.
  • Quarter-to-quarter, transactions on the Mformation platform have continued to increase, now running at tens of millions of transactions per month and up to 1.5 million per day.
  • Mformation successfully acquired the top mobile operator customers in the mobile WiMAX category, including Sprint/Xohm and UQ Communications, and deployed its first mobile commercial WiMAX service with Sprint/Xohm (now Clearwire).

“2008 was another year of continuing momentum for Mformation, during which we saw a significant acceleration in the demand for more advanced mobile device management solutions. 30 of our mobile operator customers launched or extended their device management services. Mformation led the market in the enterprise arena and with the first 4G-based WiMAX services. In 2009, we will continue to enhance our device management product portfolio, adding to our customer base from a strong order backlog and ensuring that our customers’ device management solutions continue to dramatically improve the mobile service experience,” said Mark Edwards, CEO of Mformation.

MFORMATION ADDRESSES NEED FOR ENTERPRISE MDM

Mformation expanded its MDM offering for the enterprise market with the successful launch of enhanced Mformation Enterprise Manager, which gives IT managers direct control over many devices, across any operator network. There was significant traction in the enterprise MDM category established during 2008, with a number of Mformation’s operator customers launching enterprise MDM services. Additional enterprise MDM services are planned for launch in 2009.

PARTNERS JOIN MDM ECOSYSTEM

Mformation expanded its MDM ecosystem of partners in 2008 with particular emphasis on handset partners. Vendors participating in the Mformation device programs include HTC (TPE:2498), Huawei, LG (KSE:066570.KS), Motorola (NYSE:MOT), Nokia (NYSE:NOK), Palm (NASDAQ:PALM), Samsung (KOSPI: 005930), Siemens (NYSE:SI), Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE, NASDAQ: ERICY), and ZTE (HK:0763). These device programs ensure that the Mformation server can interoperate with any device once it is in the hands of the end user. These handset vendors represent 90% of the overall market. Mformation’s MDM solution is critical for managing the rapidly growing number of mobile devices flooding the market and the third-party applications that run on them. Mformation’s partner ecosystem ensures that its mobile operator customers are able to manage the complete subscriber experience over more than 1,600 unique mobile device models.

STANDARDS LEADERSHIP

Mformation has continued to drive standards into the industry. The company’s continuing contributions and investments in OMA Device Management (DM) are paying dividends as more OMA DM devices start coming to market. More and more devices are shipping with the OMA DM client, and this trend will continue through 2009. Acting as the critical interface between the mobile operators and the device manufacturers, Mformation has ensured interoperable OMA DM implementations within many mobile operators and across multiple device manufacturers. Mformation has taken its leadership in the standards area and driven it into multiple live implementations around the globe.
