AirPlus Survey Reveals Green Travel Policy Practices Remain Elusive

AirPlus International, a global provider of corporate travel payment solutions, releases March’s The Wire…from AirPlus entitled: Green Travel Policies. Within the survey, companies cited insufficient information and cost as the two barriers to implementation of green travel initiatives. Almost 30% measure carbon emissions produced by their travel activities but roughly half at 17% have actually created and implemented policies to manage their carbon footprint. “We support our customers’ green activities with our award-winning carbon offset solution, an industry first. Our customers can automatically offset their carbon emissions with the provider and activity of their choice,” said Richard Crum, President of AirPlus International, Inc. “We have now expanded this effort through our innovative Green Reports. The AirPlus Green Reports are an elective module within the AirPlus Information Manager, our MIS tool. These reports provide corporate travel managers with the transparency of their carbon emission data by calculating it directly for them..”

The Wire…from AirPlus is a monthly report on the pulse of the industry and its relevant topics. Results of this edition are based on a survey of 71 travel management professionals in North America and Europe from March 9 to March 19, 2010 and in collaboration with Sustainable Travel International (STI).
