Social Media in Corporate Travel Making Inroads in New AirPlus Survey

AirPlus International, a global provider of corporate travel payment solutions, releases June’s The Wire…from AirPlus entitled: Social Media Making Inroads for Managing Travel. This month’s survey results were also used in a direct comparison to a similar The Wire…from AirPlus survey conducted a year ago. Overall, a higher percentage of the corporate travel professionals surveyed cited involvement in social media. While LinkedIn users held steady at about 58 percent, Facebook participants increased by almost 25% over last year's numbers. The use of Twitter, which was employed by 15.5 percent of survey respondents last year, doubled in number in this month’s survey. “As an advocate of social media, we’ve seen that utilizing these platforms fosters closer communication with our partners, customers and the industry as a whole. And our research such as The Wire, white papers and company figures are posted on these platforms to provoke an open exchange of knowledge-sharing,” said Richard Crum, President and CEO of AirPlus International, Inc. “Travel industry suppliers have an opportunity to provide real-time customer service/support by listening and connecting with corporate travel managers on these sites. Please connect with us at: AirPlus Community, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.”

The Wire…from AirPlus is a monthly report on the pulse of the industry and its relevant topics. Results of this edition are based on a survey of 67 travel management professionals in North America and Europe from April 29 to May 10, 2010.
